Westbridge 5 Race Raises £2,259 For UHNS Neonatal Unit

Piper Hulse was the proud sponsor of the Westbridge 5, a popular local running race in Stone.

This year was extra special as the race was organised by local running couple Amy & Ben Gamble to help raise funds for the hospital which treated Bethany their young daughter.

The race was a double success for the Gambles; raising £2,259 for the University Hospital North Staffordshire neonatal unit; and was won by Ben Gamble with a time of time of 26:21.

Tim Hulse, Director of Piper Hulse commented “I was pleased to be asked to help by Amy & Ben, as it’s a great cause and a popular race. I knew that the race would be in safe hands as Amy’s a runner herself and a great organiser – a fellow Accountant! Ben’s an elite runner and someone I’ve long admired – in May 2014 he was the first Briton home and 5th overall at the Edinburgh Marathon with a time of 2:25hrs in difficult conditions”.

Amy Gamble commented “Ben and I are trying to raise £14,000 for the UHNS Neonatal unit as a way of saying thank you for the amazing treatment that we all received last April when our daughter Bethany was born. Bethany was treated on a cooling mattress that the UHNS charity bought in 2012 for £14,000 and without this treatment her prognosis would be very different. Bethany is now a happy, healthy little girl and the best way that we could think to thank the hospital was to raise much needed funds for the neonatal unit.”
